Our favourite thing to watch over the course of the lockdown period was the numerous different event companies around the country slowly but surely convert themselves into more universally-thinking music brands, allowing their platforms to become record labels alongside event companies, which of course in the long run has done a world of good. It has allowed different platforms around the UK to become more in-touch with their fanbases and also the artists they enjoy working with, giving them platforms to both release upon and perform under the banner of.
Despite this happening with numerous parties around the country, one of the most impressive teams to do it has to be Forca’s Wub Club imprint, who have continuously unleashed top quality garage, bass and 140 music over the last two years. This has of course pushed their brand forward and allowed them to unleash some killer music, including this brand new drop from Bailey P, who lands with four tracks of pure bass-fuelled energy, arriving just in-time for the re-opening of venues.
The general feel of the EP is designed to inspire party-starting motives, with the title track ‘Hostage’ finding a sweet spot between original niche-inspired bass design and powerful 4×4 drum arrangements, giving it an instant grab for any rightly-thinking bass DJ. Next, ‘Without You’ arrives with a certified UKG switch-up, this time drawing the focus towards vibrant, skippy drum textures and old school piano riffs, exhaling an old-school vibe. The two previous sounds then combine for a fiery bassline fixer in ‘Cigarette Smoke’, unleashing speedy 4×4 rhythms, layered in numerous LFO expressions to send the late night ravers to the next level, before ‘Viewers Discretion’ finalizes the project with a vibrant selection of more obtuse synth melodies.
It’s yet another top quality showing for the Wub Club crew, who continue to impress at every turn. You can check out the full drop via our friends over at JunoDownload on the link below:
