It’s always an exciting thing to see the return of 24hr Garage Girls, whether that sits within them returning to live-action on a wider gigging scale, or whether it means a return the label side of the project releasing music again. Today we have the absolute pleasure of diving into their latest release, which sees frontrunner and all-around garage heavyweight SHOSH return home for a very explosive three track display, jam-packed with some real nostalgic treats and futuristic production techniques.
There is no doubt whatsoever that SHOSH has played a huge roll in the return to central popularity for the garage sound, whether than be through her explosive live shows, her extremely energetic radio residency on Kiss, or even her own productions, which over the last year have skyrocketed in terms of both quality and consistency. This latest drop sees her return to the latter in fabulous form, kicking off the new EP with an official remix of one of the garage scene’s original and eternal anthems.
We are of course talking about her official remix of ‘A Little Bit Of Luck’, without a doubt one of the most important and popular garage anthems of all time. Now when it comes to remixing a classic from DJ Luck & MC Neat, there is such potential room for error, all of which SHOSH skips past in a heartbeat, giving the original a vibrant 2021 rearrangment, stuffed to the brim with explosive bass energy and colourful melodic edits, kicking the project off in style.
We also hear two additional creations on there, firstly serving up another classic vocal sample as ‘Want It’ reworks a memorable hook into a groovy singalong, perfect for the raving crew to add a splash of energy. We also take in a pretty outstanding instrumental creation in ‘Hype Dub’, utilizing electrifying melodic expressions and a seriously groovy rhythmic base to deliver a fantastic original, again, packed to the roof with energetic flare.
