When it comes to bass music across the world, there still remains a small circle who sit at the top when it comes to popularity and impact on the genre over this last 5/6 year period of booming popularity. These are the artists that have sat at the top of scene and helped curate and guide it through selling out high volume shows whilst still supporting up and comers with extensively shifting selections. There is no doubt in our mind that the dynamic duo we all love, My Nu Leng, sit among these top names for their contributions to the scene over the years.
Therefore of course, it is always an exciting time when they eventually drop new music, with their output staying relatively limited to maintain the hype and quality levels of each individual drop. Last Friday saw them make a return to their release schedule with a powerful two-track EP project, with the title track being a long-awaited returning collaboration with the first lady of bass music: Flava D.
Now seeing as the collaborators have a tonne of history, including legendary TQD vs My Nu Leng live link ups and a couple notable link ups on the production front, we were as thrilled as anyone to see them linking up again with this fantastic new single by the name of ‘Ascendance’. It’s a pretty perfect way of fusing the known influences of the group, with the skippy rhythms and quicker pacing of Flava D fusing beautifully with My Nu Leng’s darker, more synth heavy approach, with just a dash of breaksy energy scattered over the top for good measure.
The release comes as part of a two-track drop, with the B-side being the collaboration with Bushbaby entitled ‘Crystal Clear’, which dropped earlier in the year.
