It’s always a pleasure to see legendary figures carrying the torch forward, especially within our beloved UK garage scene. There have been numerous figures doing this over the years, but through their Undagrnd Freqz imprint, it’s safe to say that both Matt Jam Lamont & Echelon have been doing a smashing job of keeping the garage scene supplied with a tonne of exciting new 2-stepper material. This latest drop from them sees a return to the fantastic New Heroes compilation series, which sees the pair link up with some of the hottest talent around to create a series of collaborations. The first edition of the release caught a lot of attention and we can safely say that the ball hasn’t been dropped as they move into volume two here.

They have once again arranged a powerful selection of collaborators to get involved with the project, kicking off with the unstoppable sounds of Soulecta. Fresh off his ‘Soulecta & Friends’ album project, this is a man who knows collaborations inside out and ‘Need A Friend’ is a perfect fusion between his uplifting, vocal-driven style of UKG and Matt Jam & Echelon’s more old school flavours. Next,  we leap into the bulbous bassy bounces and groovy rhythmic switches of ‘Massive & Crew‘, which sees Tuff Culture join the party for a vibrant addition, perfect for injecting a dab of pace into the dance.

Next, We welcome Fraktion, who wastes no time turning up the heat on ‘Surrender’ for another powerful combo, working with scattered 2-steppy beats, sweeping synths and masterfully sliced vocal lines to once again fuse nostalgia and freshness with just the right about of modernized spice. Finally, the horns are let loose as Frankly arrives for collaboration number 4 entitled ‘N.S.T’. This one is a lighters up anthem, again letting fly an array of super groovy drum designs, a top some tidy melodic work for a smooth yet pulsing finale.

The whole project is an absolute triumph, which you can check out via our friends over at JunoDownload via the link below:
