Despite our primary focus of course being centred around the ever expanding UK bass scene, we are keen here at The 3000 Network to ensure we are showcasing as many different avenues of the UK underground as we possibly can, with so many different areas of electronic music currently undergoing periods of major renaissance.
That is most certainly true of the dubstep community, which in our eyes, quality wise has never been stronger. There have been so many fantastic new artists and imprints spring up over the course of the last couple of years, with the scene now bustling once again with creativity and vibrancy.
One of the most consistent label projects out there is of course LX One’s Vantage Records imprint, which through a well timed structure of top quality roster additions is widely seen as a genre-wide flag flyer, constantly pushing the boundaries and delivering quality drops each and ever time. This latest two-tracker sees a pretty legendary link up occur as the timeless sounds of Youngsta return to the realms of production alongside label owner: LX One for a pretty substantial drop.
We begin the EP with ‘Bloodshot’, a glitchy hybridisation of creeping bleeps and subtle sub slides, working beneath an eerie backdrop of atmospheric pressures and tidy drum work. The whole track just oozes old school dubstep flavour and it’s a perfect way to kick off the project. On the flip side, LX One this time rolls out on solo duty, delivering a dizzy display of horn-driven stepper energy on ‘Seeking’. This one fuses harsh brass stabs with a stripped back catalogue of drums for another wavy creation that is sure to the send the ravers into an absolute tizz. This is definitely one “for the heads” as they say.
