Over the last few years we have seen somewhat of an explosion onto the scene from the team at YosH, a project that has set out to showcase both rapidly rising talents and the established faces within bass music, providing both with an excellent platform. Headed up by Foor’s Gavin Ford with Tengu now heavily involved in the A&R process, the label most definitely appears to have found it’s rhythm.
Both sides of the label have impressed, seeing a number of releases from both sides of the coin pick up impressive chart placements on both Beatport and JunoDownload, showing that the mix and blend between the old and new can most definitely work. We find a lot of the more established labels are uneasy to take a punt on a newcomer, but clearly the trick is slow integration and a constant switch up in release strucutre.
We are here today to take a closer look at their latest compilation project, which sees them bring together five of these new comers over four storming originals. More than anything, this release is an excellent pointer into where bass music currently sits within the UK. The roster may appear a tad unknown, but we can guarentee this one packs a punch from start to finish as we are introduced to originals from Aniv, Elivo & Bareham, Vamp and The Real Alcapone.
We kick off the project with a look at Aniv’s super darkened roller ‘Get That’, a grizzly, space age creation, boasting an electric lead and powerful, in your face drum work. Next, the vibe is stripped back to more classic UK bass themes as Elivo and Bareham team up on ‘Ever Need’, before the LFO’s head out in force for Vamp’s ‘Business’. Finally, The Real AlCapone then concludes proceedings with the super smooth production techniques behind ‘The Way You Got’. This marks another excellent outing for the YosH Pit imprint!
The tracks are being slowly premiered across the artist’s individual SoundCloud pages, which you will bee able to find as soon as they drop via the embedded SoundCloud playlist below:
