Womxn In Bass with Ellie Sabine Singh – Chary Nicks

Posted 13/3/19 in

Chary Nicks, Brighton Bass Babe has supported the likes of Redlight, Coki, DJ Zinc, & Flava D to name a few. She’s versatile in her sound and has hit the scene hard. Expect a mixture of heavy basslines and drums combined with melodic synths that come together to form an indistinguishable sound that always sends crowds wild!

Brighton bass culture is missing…

A collective of DJ’s working together to push all the amazing talent that Brighton’s bass scene has including the less established names on the scene.

One music related goal for 2019 is…

To get a bassline / bass house & drum and bass track finished and released.

When I wake up I…

Have a mocha and get the tunes on.

Track I’m currently rinsing is…

Primal – Taiki Nulight

Phrase I seriously over use…

“Oooooh that’s naughty” – in relation to a disgusting tune someone has just shown me.

I love what I do because…

I get to watch crowds of people having the time of their lives dancing to the music i am playing. I honestly feel so lucky to be where i am today.

It wouldn’t have happened without…

Encouragement and help from all the DJ’s and producers i have met and interacted with and a special mention to Lengoland which has created such a huge forum for like-minded people to help each other grow.

Biggest struggle in this business is…

Not having time to attend all the great events that are on and trying to stay sober when you are at a gig because you have work at the office the next day (cry).

I aspire to be a woman like…

Flava D. Not only does she smash it alone but is also a part of TQD and still has time to make tracks. She’s a massive inspiration.

In the rave you will probably catch me…

Lingering around the DJ booth or in the crowd skanking like no one can see.

I love creating…

Memories from all the amazing nights I’ve had due to djing and being able to look back and remind myself how great my job is.

My proudest career moment so far was…

Playing at Concorde 2 (Brighton) opening for DJ guv or supporting Redlight at Thirty3hz in guildford.

The last Instagram account I followed was…

23Degree’s event page after playing for them at Patterns on 11th January and having one of the best crowd reactions ive ever had.

Most memorable thing that’s ever happened at a set…

When i played an hour set at the wrong club and no one stopped me.

My favourite producer is…

This is really really hard but if i had to say one person it would be Chris Lorenzo… or Taiki Nulight or AC Slater.

In a dream world…

chocolate and coffee would be free and all DJ’s would get paid even if it was enough to cover travel and a few drinks. Oh and selling tickets to play at an event would just disappear.
