As always here at The 3000 Network, our aim remains resolute in exploring the broadest depths and delegations of underground dance music, with a primary passion for UK bass and it’s close cousins, but with the firm understanding the underground dance music exists in a delicate eco-system of multi-genre influences and themes. Today, we are once again linking up with our good friends over at the incredibly consistent House Of Hustle imprint, who have continued to impress us with their impeccable runs of releases in recent times, constantly pushing the boundaries of tech house music and constantly attracting exciting new faces to their already incredible roster.
Their latest release welcomes the magnificent sounds of ZOF, who over the course of three storming originals allows us to explore the more energetic, experimental side of tech house with some seriously colourful creations. We begin with the fabulously vibrant title track ‘Cupcake’, which links together creepy vocal lines with a very cool bed of shuffling percussive influences and moogy synth pulses, giving the whole track a futuristic yet industrial feel. It lays the foundations for the rest of the EP perfectly, with ‘Fat Cat’ arriving next with a real wave of finesse.
There will always be something very cool about this type of tune, with it’s sweeping melodic presence and smooth bass warbles, giving us the feeling of fresh designer and fancy shades. This sets up the finale perfectly as we then dive into the finale, which takes the title ‘Like Right Now‘, once again utilising those vibrant vocal displays but this time with a much more high energy supporting cast of lively drum switches and moogy bass energy. ZOF has delivered something pretty solid here, it’s an extremely pleasing collection of originals and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for the future, which is why we simply had to get ourselves involved with the campaign.
