At threethousand.co.uk we make a serious effort to keep up with bass music the world over, as we start to see multiple different pockets of community spring up all over the glove. Today we are taking a more specific look at the LA scene, which alongside the explosion of Night Bass over the last few years, seems to have become somewhat of a hot bed for new school bass production in recent times.
We are therefore very excited to be jumping straight into premiere duty as we present you with this latest from the man they call Metta. The Swedish born DJ has been making quite a name for himself in recent times, this being topped off with a very well timed move into the Los Angeles slipstream, allowing his sound to grow and prosper amidst a thriving bass community.
Over the past three months we have seen him take a particular interest in self releases, with his productions amassing some pretty incredible numbers, with the other two tracks from his most recent EP racking up over 600,000 SoundCloud plays. We are here specifically today to get involved in the madness as we premiere third original from the ‘Not Enough Greens’ EP project, with a track that takes the name ‘Staar’.
The track itself is a certified deep house roller, focussing primarily on super low end bass warbles and tight drum grooves, which lead on from a spacey introduction, laced with euphoric piano chord riffs and g-house vocal layers, all combining to bring us a major pressure explosion come the breakdown. As the track progresses we find ourselves immersed in shimmering, epic string sections and a constantly evolving structure, making for an overall fantastic original creation.
