Today we are very excited to be launching a new high profile interview series, headed up by our very own KXVU. Over the course of the year, he will be sitting down for a run of exclusive Q&A sessions named ‘CubChat’, with some of the UK’s most exciting bass music producers, kicking off with today’s edition with bass heavyweight: Zero.
Within the UK scene, we have seen an absolute explosion of futuristic UKG flavours over the past 18 months, with a number of new producers spreading their wings and finding their fortunes in the gold mine that is garage. One of the producers in this bracket we have been keeping a serious eye on is On1.
It’s an exciting time for KXVU to say the least. In the last 4 months, he has stepped into the role of breakfast show host on Trickstar Radio, along with becoming the JunoDownload podcast host, putting out three solid releases across both Southpoint and YosH and more. One particular additional attribute is his appearance in the well renowned grime producer clash tournament Beatboss, which held it’s eighth official event last Friday at Five Miles London.
There is no doubting that both garage and UK funky are both very much back in the thick of the UK dance music conversation, with both genres managing to reemerge onto the scene throughout the explosive twelve months of music that was 2018. Because of their similarly timed reappearance on a more public scale, we often see the two genres layered together, which sees us pick up some interesting crossovers.
