It’s an exciting time for KXVU to say the least. In the last 4 months, he has stepped into the role of breakfast show host on Trickstar Radio, along with becoming the JunoDownload podcast host, putting out three solid releases across both Southpoint and YosH and more. One particular additional attribute is his appearance in the well renowned grime producer clash tournament Beatboss, which held it’s eighth official event last Friday at Five Miles London.

There is no doubting that both garage and UK funky are both very much back in the thick of the UK dance music conversation, with both genres managing to reemerge onto the scene throughout the explosive twelve months of music that was 2018. Brighton’s premiere dance music station, Trickstar Radio, has been gracing the airwaves since 2014, and has built up a fantastic reputation not only in the seaside town, but across the South-East and UK. Founded by dance fanatic Si Twiddy. Trickstar has gone from strength to strength under his guidance. Something that surprises a lot of new DJ’s is the quality of professionalism at Trickstar – from the equipment to the staff. When Si moved to Brighton in 2013, he noticed something. “Whilst I was walking my dog along the seafront, I realised that Brighton had a huge scene dedicated to dance music, with massive DJ’s and headliners filling clubs every week – yet there was no radio station to compliment this popularity.” So he set up Trickstar as a way to give this city’s bustling music scene a voice – and 7 years later, the station is stronger and more popular than ever.

Over the Christmas period, it’s safe to say that the internet is a wash with compilations, both celebrating the holidays and providing a yearly round up of different label’s progress over the last twelve months. One label that continues to push the best out of their artists for their Christmas eve giveaway is Southpoint, who have yet again put together a colossal collection of heaters as they bring out the sixth edition of their ‘Southpoint Presents’ series.
