It’s been an incredibly successful year for the Four40 camp, who have continuously pushed out top quality releases fromt the start of the year, spending the most part of the year releasing an EP a week. They have pushed their feelers out into a multitude of different genres as well, with a central theme around garage, bass and even a couple of grimey pieces in there. We love to see such high levels of consistency, especially when it involves a label with such an extensive release history as Four40.
Now, as one of the writers for JunoDownload, I can start to predict when different projects are going to make an appearance in the store purely through watching promotional campaigns and announcements, however, nobody prepared me for the absolute madness that was soon to ensue at the hands of long stand UK bass imprint Four40 Records.
There have been a lot of new artists to emerge over the last year or so from the so called ‘UKG revival movement’, a lot of which have been creating some truly incredible stuff. One of our favourites of the bunch has been Limita, a producer who’s versatility and consistency have pushed him right to the top of the pile.
We live in a time where the music industry is in constant fluctuation. Trends come and go as quick as the producers that ride their waves, making it almost impossible to predict the route that dance music in the UK and worldwide is going to take. We also live in an extremely DIY era, with producers, start up labels and musical individuals of all kinds always looking for the next way to improve their product.
As a label project, there really are few who have contributed as much to the UK’s thriving bass music scene than the legendary Four40, who continue to surge forward moving towards 2019, pushing out solid release after release. 2019 has seen them move into some new territories, but this brand new remix from Barely Royal drops us right into the centre of a UK bass blast off.
