Soulecta brings together some Saucy UKG on brand new Barely Royal rework

Posted 14/5/19 in

As far as labels within this fantastic bass scene go, there aren’t many who have pushing the boundaries and shaping the sound of the scene as much as Saucy Records in recent times. The label operates with a number of regularly featured artists, including the likes of Pelikann, Taim, Affiliate and a load of other super original producers.

Another artist that fits very smoothly into this list is Bristol’s own Barely Royal, one of the bass scene’s shining lights, who’s unique blend of breaks and bass influences has seen him rise to the top in quick fashion, being one of the most sought after sounds in the UK.

Here however, we are very excited to see the Saucy team dive down a new alley as they employ the talents and skills of man like Soulecta. Based in London, this guy has also been making some major movements, with top quality releases hitting the shelves via the likes of Garage Shared, Strictly Flava, Yosh and more.

He is drafted in here to get to work on a fantastic remix project, overhauling Barely Royal’s high demand collaboration with Gid Sedgwick & SK!N entitled ‘Follow Me’. Whilst the original takes a bassy route, this remix does some serious damage as the track is completely reshaped into a stomping UKG format.

Through a combination of masterful vocal slicing, choppy drum realignment and powerful bass design, Soulecta creates an absolute master of a remix, with the original recording still pulsating through the heart of the track via Gid Sedgwick & SK!N’s awesome vocal lines. We are very excited to see where else Saucy take this new garage angle, with summer approaching rapidly, we could have some serious fire on our hands!
