Well well well. If there was one act that we could use to personify the rise in UK bass and bassline in particular, it would 100% be Skepsis. Since shooting up the ranks back in 2015 via his super well received Rhythm & Gash remix, Skepsis has literally gone from strength to strength, become one of the scene’s major champions, touring constantly whilst also showcasing the best newcomers relentlessly.
Just recently we have seen him on the road regularly, after playing both Glastonbury and Hideout festival within a couple of days of each other. We also saw him set off on tour around America towards the back end of last year, showcasing just how far he has come. You can check out the remaining listings for his summer shows below:
It’s therefore very exciting to see that he has brand new music out, which is going to be dropping tomorrow. After somewhat of a hiatus, the high flying Skepsis goes all out on this brand new monster, which takes the name of ‘Rush’. We begin with a breathy introduction, full of airy percussive smashes and spacey vocal stabs, slowly developing into a stunning vocal lead, packed with energy and excitement.
We then progress to a monumental breakdown, in which Skepsis gives us a dosage of what he is all about. We see a complete switch up in vibe as he unleashes his classic, gnarly bass leads amidst sharp 4×4 drum designs and continuous vocal stabs. This is without a doubt going to be the bangers of festival season, with the potential to push his stock even high, if that’s possible!
The full track drops tomorrow, but for the time being, you can preview it below:
