Once again we are thrilled to be back on The 3000 Network to continue our journey through the rapidly expanding realms of UK Bass music, always looking for a new box of treasures to unlock, wherever we may find it. This journey constantly gives us the opportunity to look into exciting new artists from around the world, all of whom seem to be able to bring something new and unique to the table, which of course is one of the reasons we now find ourselves working within such a rich scene.
Today, we shall be taking a look at a brand new track from Sabre, an artist we have been keeping a keen eye on here The 3000 Network, with his hard hitting approach to synthesizer design and highly energetic compositional structure most certainly allowing him to stand out from the crowd. In recent times we have seen him getting very busy indeed, linking up with established platforms such as the wonderful Opium, our very own 3000 Bass and his own imprint of Spaced, a project focused on showcasing the best of the UK underground.
This time around we see him linking up with the team over at Renkie, a primarily mix-based platform who see themselves expanding their catalogue of sounds as they move into their first full compilation release. The track listing runs pretty darned strong, but we are here specifically to talk through Sabre’s track ‘Shaolin‘, which sits as one of the real highlights from this selection.
We were lucky enough to premiere the release too and you can check it out below:
There’s no doubt whatsoever that this is a track designed for the rave, with it’s stripped back drum structures and intense leading synthesizer designs giving it a gnarly feel. We hear a combination of LFO-driven bass slaps and sharpened percussive pushes give the track the bulk of it’s energy and most definitely makes us yearn for the feel of an actual rave once again.
