It’s definitely an exciting time in the UK, as we start to see the day parties emerge from their winter hibernation and slowly but surely feel a sense of summer injected into the musical landscape. This can be easily represented by the mass amount of UKG releases we have been seeing hit the shelves over the past few weeks and we couldn’t be happier about it!
Now one man who always stays on top of the season and is always able to stay one step ahead with the trends is LOCKT, the Leeds based DJ who heads up the ever impressive 1Forty label imprint. Over the last couple of years we have seen him spearhead the label project forward into the realms of funky, UKG, grime and bass, giving us tasting helpings of a range of different genres as time goes on.
However as we mentioned above, he is also a DJ and a damn fine one at that. It’s rare we straight up feature mixes for what they are on threethousand.co.uk, but we couldn’t get the earworm of this perfected selection of mix and blends out of our heads. We are truly introduced to the sound of the summer here, as we lay before a seaside filled with glistening rhythmic gems.
From start to finish, we are given a vast range of sounds, spanning from lively UKG and Funky to well placed classic grimey vocal snippets and dancehall inspired lashings to boot. We have to commend LOCKT on this one, primarily due to his wicked sense of timing and a constant evolution in vibe, a trait a lot of DJ’s seem to skip these days as they race towards as many drops as possible for the camera. Tunes are included from the likes of Breach, George Morel, Nu Birth, Chris Lorenzo, Redlight, Lamont, Grim Sickers, Motu, Nico Lindsay, Roska, Big Bird, Hannah Wants, Fork And Knife, Dizzee Rascal, Brock UK, Boy Better Know, Low Steppa, Zed Bias, Slay, Trigga, Royal T, Patrice, Sir Spyro, D Double E, Ruff Sqwad, Chimpo.
