As always here at The 3000 Network, we love to keep as up to date as possible with the different musical ventures representing underground dance and bass music around the UK, with today’s journey taking us on a short trip up the road to one of the UK’s most innovative electronic music cities: Sheffield. Seen as one of the founding factions of bassline, the city has had a long history with the UK underground, with today’s feature looking into a much more recent development as we take a look at the latest selection from Strictly House & Garage, an events company and labe network showcasing some of the most exciting creations out there right about now.
Having kept an eye on their catalogue since their inception, these guys know how to put a quality release together. This latest drop sees them welcome the sounds of the magnificent Gemi, who has been on a serious roll since his emergence a couple of years back. Seen as one of the new UKG movement’s front runners and most innovative sound designers, this new EP is a perfect example of why he has gained such a solid following so quickly, the quality is there in heaps and bundles.
The EP itself features twocracking original creations, kicking off with the oldshool flavours and throwback vocal chops of the title track ‘All Night‘. This track is great look into Gemi’s production style as a whole, perfectly fusing the nostalgic elements of the original garage sound with up to date production methods and rhythmic designs. This track also comes complete with a dancefloor ready refix from The Phat Controlla, whose hard hitting basslines undoubtedly take the track to an entirely different plateu.
Finally, we finish up with a look at the magnificent ‘Ordinary House’, a techy journey through intricate chord progressions and bubbling percussive additions, showcasing the more experimental side of Gemi’s character and putting the final touches on a very exciting selection. We have also heard tell of an exclusive vinyl run of this release to follow, so we reccomend you keep yourselves updated by following both Gemi and the SHAG team via the links below:
