Dunman has done it again, launching into 2020 with the release of his new digital album ‘001’.
The 14 track album contains many sought after dubs and edits from as far back as 2017, with the 140 heat gaining support from the scenes biggest names such as Glume, L U C Y and 3000’s very own KXVU. The Bournemouth based producer kicks things off with an edit of ‘Cam’Ron – Hey Ma’ offering up chord chops an expert sampling reminiscent of hip hop legends. The grooves continue with ethereal strings of ‘Beat7’, whilst ‘Brooklyn’ picks up the pace with a furious kick pattern and big 808’s that continue into the more relaxed vibes of Bugsy’s Manor.
‘Final From’ and ‘Fury’ step things up a notch, with weapon-grade snare work bound to get a wheel up during any dance. ‘Nujabes’ see’s the return of the more great piano sampling to create a more relaxed groove. ‘Pony Flip’ brings back the dancefloor heat and ‘Skinnyman Instru’ rounds things off with grimey beats contrasted with that signature piano sampling. The final 4 tracks are all edits and refixes ripe for tearing up the dance floor, with the Clint Eastwood edit being the personal highlight for me. The reimagining of ‘J Dilla – One For Ghost’ is sublime, with J Dilla clearly being a huge inspiration in Dunman’s sample work. Lastly, a refix of JD Reid – Yachts & Phantoms and an edit of L U C Y’s banger ‘Okiniiri Riddim’ close the 14 track album.
‘Dunman – 001’ is available to preorder on Bandcamp right now for just £2.50, an absolute bargain for so many high calibre tunes! If you can’t wait until the February 15th release date, be sure to check out the album showreel uploaded to Dunman’s soundcloud here:
