Drinks On Me finally unleashing full ‘Teetotal’ project with Night Bass

As always with Night Bass, it’s an absolute pleasure to keep up to date with their catalogue, with the label constantly looking to push the boundaries of bass music, and alongside that, the worldwide sound of garage as well. The last few years has seen a massive influx of UK-based artists onto the LA-based imprint, with founder AC Slater clearly taking a much closer interest in the sounds and concoctions being brewed up over here on this side of the water. This has of course led to a fantastic growth of UK genres over in the US and around North America in general.

The latest artist to join the ranks with a full EP, following on from a collection of well received singles, is of course Drinks On Me. Over the last three years, we have seen his unique, fusion-driven take on garage and bass music really start to gain momentum, now being listed alongside the leading lights in UK garage and continuously impressing within his very consistent run of releases. This is a link up we have been waiting to take in for a hot minute, with all three tracks being dancefloor-ready corkers in their own right.

Opening up with a jolty introduction, we firstly take in the sounds of ‘Stop Drinking’, a metallic combination of fluctuating rhythmic expression and popping melodic instrumentation that immediately give us a completely unique feel within the bass music spectrum, pushing the boundaries in so many different ways. Next, we are greeted with a fabulous display of synthetic side-chaining and complex drum production as ‘Chasing Ghosts’ combines the rhythms of NUKG with a euphoric set of synth stabs for another unique sonic experience, swaying slightly towards a more eerie sense of harmonic disonance.

Finally, ‘Don’t Wanna Go’ gives us possibly the most typically garage sounding creation as bulbous, bouncing bass pulses are met with skippy 2-step influenced drums and a set of catchy vocal samples to give us the final piece of the puzzle in exploring Drinks On Me’s full production spectrum. It marks the final track in a fantastic project, which we are sure the team at Night Bass are very happy to be presenting to the world.
