We are loving the bass scene at the moment, as we wade through the summer sun encountering heavyweight drop after heavyweight drop from both high flying imprints and rising projects. Today we are back at it to take a peek at the latest drop from Urbn Music, a Label project headed up by Dee with the vision to promote and lush heavyweight underground dance music.
This latest drop sees Dee himself touch down on his own imprint for a very exciting two track drop, dubbed as a mini EP. The project consists of two heaters, the first of which takes the title ‘Whop’, a gnarly 4×4 roller stuffed with punchy bass synsthsizer sounds and groovy rhythmic manoeuvres to keep the racers on their toes.
On the flip side we dive into the title track for the EP, which takes the title ‘Inside My Head’. This one is a much more unusual affair, steering away from the more standardised 4×4 drum design and focussing more so on super original stuttered grooves and unusual percussive grooves, topped off with some unusual sound design and unexpected vocal layers to top of the show.
Between these two tracks we hear a fantastic display of versatility and musical maturity, hearing elements of breakbeat, 4×4, niche and everything in between woven into two scorching original creations. We have attached the EP below for you all to enjoy:
