It’s always a good day when we see the latest CruCast drop land in stores, which means that every Friday for the best part of the last year has contained a treat. This year has been undoubtedly the strongest for the heavyweight UK bass imprint in terms of numbers and quality of releases, unveiling a drop a week and never wavering in potency or overall quality. Today they are back in business once again as they welcome back an artist who has been catching some serious attention of late, through his euphoric approach to bass production and again, sheer consistency. We are of course talking about the one and only Cooky.
This is his third official drop on CruCast this year, with his previous 2 EP’s gaining major traction and helping catapult himself and his sound to the upper echelons of bass music, using a running theme of big room synthesizer leads, euphoria-inducing vocal processing and high end drum development to match. Over the last few years we have also seen Cooky touch down on a number of other recognised bass imprints, such as Deeprot, Allstars Raw, Supersized UK and more, always bringing and explosive flavour with him wherever he lays his hat. This latest three tracker feels like a step up on all the previous however, which we are certain is going to shake a few raves over the coming weeks.
We open up with the title track ‘Memories’, which again circulates it’s musical themes around a combination of nostalgia-inducing reverberations and rave-ready synthetics, which through tightened production tekkers makes this an instantly recognisable introduction. From here, more vocal magnificence as the emotional top-lines and almost trance-like melodies of ‘L.M.O’ then follows in thunderous fashion, before the official VIP mix of ‘Far’ is unleashed linking together heavily processed vocal overlays with a much more metallic bass lead, giving us one final punch of potency before closing the EP off.
