Clarcq follows up Southpoint debut with secondary killer single

With the launch of 2022 as a year of releasing realistically being one of the strongest we have seen in recent times, it’s only right that we take a specific focus on a number fo the different new artists making waves right now. Two weeks ago, we took a closer look at the Southpoint catalogue, exploring a brand new release from new signing: Clarcq, who through a combination of futuristic ukg synth textures, choppy beats and tidy vocal manipulations, really impressed with his first involvement. Today, we see him make a return to the imprint with a sizzling new original that takes the title ‘Touch’, again exploring his signature sound.

It’s always exciting to see the Southpoint team unveiling new names and projects, with this list of debut releasers including some serious heavyweights over the years, with the likes of Bushbaby, KXVU, Drax, Hamdi, Movement and more all being part of that pretty elite club. Clarcq is looking very much like the new link in that chain as the Brighton-based imprint to look to push the future of the garage sound forward across the UK, with this collaboration stretching across the full breadth of the British isles.

The track itself is another colourful spin through Clarcq’s unique take on the garage sound, but this turning things up a gear in regards to the included melodies and harmonic structure, utilizing glistening sonic textures and a very fluid landscape to unleash something a little bit different onto our ears. The future is looking extremely bright for Clarcq, who looks to push the garage sound a step further in his home city of Edinburgh. We can rest assured that there is plenty more matieral from the young Scot en route with Southpoint as well.
