Within the bass scene there over the last 12-18 months there has been a most definite shift towards a more tech influenced sound, be it within more minimalist drum structures or through less noisy bass design, we have seen it loud and clear that the scene is in the middle of a forward thinking evolution. There are various labels and sounds pushing this forward and today, we are taking a look at an artist who has embraced the more stripped back style with ease.
Enter, Albzzy, a Hastings based producer we have featured on the site previously, who continues to put together hard hitting releases across a magnitude of exciting platforms. The latest in this long run is YosH, the home imprint of FooR and a real breeding ground for exciting new sounds and ideas between a circle of upcoming producers.
Today’s feature is a look at Albzzy’s brand new collaboration with SK who has taken up somewhat of a residency alongside Albzzy, often appearing alongside him on DJ sets and vocal tracks to add some additional spice to the new look mix down structure. The pair have a serious natural chemistry, which is demonstrated clearly here as the link up sees them land on the latest YosH release with a track entitled ‘Straight 100’s’.
The track itself is a wash of different, specifically designed bass sounds that interweave and jive away, broken up by scattered, 808 style drum sounds and SK’s nicely sampled vocal lines, making this one the complete package. It sits almost perfectly between tearout and refinement, making it a must have for a number of different DJ’s, either to heat up the dance or cool it down.
