The breadth of bass music’s expanse across the south coast is something that truly fascinates us, with the genres original roots being so firmly planted into the northern & middle sections of the country. With this, we often find ourselves wondering what has caused this explosive expansion of the sound across the southern ends of the UK, but to be honest, we spend more time enjoying the levels of quality that are now continuously emerging. We are heading across to Hastings this afternoon as we mean to have a bit of a catch up with a long time 3000 collaborator in Albzzy, who returns to the fantastic About Last Night imprint to deliver two hard-hitting collaborations.
Since forming the label, Albzzy has been putting in a lot of work behind the scenes with About Last Night, doing all he can to establish it as a solid stand-alone platform and to be honest, you have to take your hats off to both the high levels of quality and consistency, which we have stated numerous times automatically earns our respect in this modern age of underground dance music. The EP itself is a perfect top-up of the Albzzy goodness we have become so used to taking in over the last few years, coming to us alongside a couple of very exciting collaborative talents.
First up, Milazzo is our guest as she joins with Albzzy for some high tempo drum expressions and hard hitting synthesizer action on ‘Front 2 Back’. You can’t help but feel that the return to dances with in the back of the pairs with this one being created, as it’s clearly designed to cause an absolute ruckus. On the flip, Joe Burger joins the fold with some impressive vocal work ‘Come Thru’, which again is clearly built for a live rave environment, packing a serious bassy punches below some witty, toasted lyricism and sharpened drum processing for good measure.
