We have been following the run of form Albzzy has been in with some seriously keen ears of late as he continues his run of top quality singles. Over the last 12 months or so we have heard his sound shift softly and smoothly away from the more raucous tear out themes of full blown bassline, with an eye for the more Americanised, minimal take on bass music, being openly inspired by Night Bass and other similar labels.
This latest single sees him continue on this quest with a track entitled ‘The Voyage’, perhaps referencing the journey he currently finds himself on within the world of 4×4 production. We love to see journeys, I think everyone does. This latest offering is definitely one we can expect to hear in the dances.
Compositionally, it definitely falls into a more minimal genre bracket, focussing more-so on the negative space than filling everything up to the brim, which is what I think draws people to the more stripped back styles within 4×4 music. It’s a trait that made dubstep incredibly unique, drawing influence from the soundscape techniques used by early dub reggae producers to create a sense of atmosphere within recordings.
When you couple this use of space with smooth, scintillating sub-bass textures and tight, punchy but precise drum designs we are definitely in for a treat. It’s always a pleasure to see Albzzy progress, as a dedicated hard worker and business minded individual.
