This unusual period in time is most definitely supplying us with an extraordinarily high output level from the bigger UK bass labels, with nearly every imprint smashing out releases like nobody’s business. It was to be expected however, when you lock up every producer in the country and the majority of them work from home studios, what else were they going to spend the lockdown doing.
One label we are always keen to keep tabs on is Leeds-based imprint 1Forty, a project headed up by LockT that seems to always be levelling up when it comes to the quality of their releases. Their unique, stripped back art work style and colourful multi genre approach has seen them rise into one of the most popular platforms for artists across numerous different scenes.
Now we know for a fact that LockT loves to keep the release schedule looking as innovative and creative as possible, with the catalogue already brimming with interested production link ups and instrumental + vocal collaborations. Their latest project sees them pull from the inspirations of that very catalogue as remixes are commissioned for some of the label’s most sought after vocal drops on ‘The Acapellas, Vol. 1’.
The project consists of two very exciting free downloads, kicking off firstly with what we believe to be Dunman’s 1Forty debut. He gets busy with a super grimey revamp of Lyrical Strally’s ‘Grime Street’, jam packed with classic drum manoeuvres and powerful sub frequencies. On the flip side the vibe takes quite an unexpected turn as Kobe JT unleashes a colourful UKG flip of Killa P’s ‘Rate Us’, one of the OG 1Forty vocal releases.
Both tracks are a nice bit of additional content for 1Forty to unleash during these unusual times and we have attached the link below for you to enjoy:
